Adele Wins Best Album Award, Refuses To Accept It Because Of Beyonce
The 59th Grammy awards were a star studded affair. From Beyonce to Bruno Mars and to Adele all big names from the music industry were present. Beyonce and Adele both won early awards Sunday as they vied for dominance at the Grammys, with late rock icon David Bowie sweeping the side categories for his final album “Blackstar.”
But this biggest surprise of the evening came when Adele won Album Of The Year for 25 after beating Beyonce’s Lemonade, Justin Bieber’s Purpose and Drake’s Views and this is when she got emotional.
She got so emotional that right after thanking everyone and apologizing for her performance mishap, she refused to accept the award! Yes, you read that right.
Fighting back tears, Adele took the podium and paid tribute to Beyonce, who had led the night’s nominations with nine for her politically edgy “Lemonade.”
“My idol is Queen Bey and I adore you. You move my soul every day,” Adele said as she looked at Beyonce, who was making her first public appearance since announcing she was pregnant with twins.
