The mention of sacred sound and icon Om in various religious texts in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism can be found as a word and sound of religious significance. It is also said that the first sound that originated during the evolution of Universe, was Om. Scholars like Max Muller recommended Om as a tool for meditation. There are many untold and unknown significance of this sound Om.
But most recently, a 14-year young girl grabbed the attention of the scientists and scholars with her discovery on the impact of the ‘Om’ sound in reducing fatigue. When we chan
t Om in a particular frequency that is 430+ Hz frequency, it works.
Anwesha Roy Chowdhury, a Class-9 student of Adamas World School, Kolkata who topped the recently organised Science Congress in Kolkata with her discovery.
According to her findings that she presented during the science congress that, chanting of Om in 430+ Hz frequency, increases oxygen level in blood and lowers carbon dioxide and lactic acid, thereby reducing the level of fatigue.
She was selected during a workshop conducted on 165 students who were shortlisted for the statewide Science Congress recently.
For Anwesha her findings will take few more years to complete as she put forth while speaking to Youthens News, “my findings Om when we chant in a particular frequency that is 430+ Hz frequency, it works. The project is a big one and is not yet fully completed, many more things are yet to be discovered. My interest in Science and Innovation started when I was in Class-6 started with developing small innovative models, participated in competitions. I didn’t face any problems in the course of time, as now I am in Class-9, I won’t get laboratory for my individual practices and inventions, but I need it very much for my works now”.
Anwesha acknowledges the support of her parents and school in every word she speaks. In particular her parents, her brother who is also a scientist working in California University, San Francisco and the Principal of her School Moushumi Banerjee.
Even School too observes, the thoughtful and innovative girl in Anwesha. Principal of Adamas World School, Moushumi Banerjee, who first spotted the scientific potential in Anwesha, encouraged her and supported her in all the way the possible, by promoting and encouraging the innovative projects she undertook, spoke to Youthens at length about Anwesha and role of a School and mentor in moulding the inner potentiality of a pupil ““I feel that as a Principal you are the most motivating factor to the kids. When Anwesha’s father first came to me and told me that Anwesha is doing a lot of research on various subjects of her own. That is when I kept talking to her, I told her whatever you feel, do it correctly, all the time you may not be winner but see that you are never a looser.
I think as a School we encourage our children, which is a very important and we also encourage our students to think and do something out of box.
Anwesha has a unique bent of mind, that of a scientist, that’s her unique talent so as school our role is to whatever talent she got in her, we must nourish the potential and need to polish it beautifully and carefully.
Anwesha is a very quiet child, who does not talk much and not very much outgoing and participating, I found her to be very thoughtful girl. She is very respectful girl. These qualities are vanishing from our society now a days but she is very respectful”.
Anwesha too feels that every youth like her can achieve whatever they dream, when she says “we all have talent within us, I am lucky enough that I got many things together which many other students doesn’t get often, supporting parents, supportive school, teacher, principal, friends and elder brother who helps me. Wherever I am is because of them”.
If little words of encouragement lifts the inner spirit of our little ones and motivate them to undertake bigger challenges in life, then why remain in the back sit, come forward and encourage and give everyone the wings to fly above the sky.
