Mother of 4 kids, Stephanie Miller, age 27 lives in Utah, U.S. She is known on Instagram as ‘MotherMakesx4’, on which she keeps on sharing adorable pictures of her daughters whose clothes she recreates from her husband’s old shirts.
She says she has always been creative and started sewing after she gave birth to her 1st child. Miller in her childhood was into drawing and painting, and majored in education with a Fine Arts degree. After her 1st child, it became difficult for her to continue her oil painting career, and postpartum depression added more to her struggle. “I felt a loss of identity,” Miller said to Babble. “I couldn’t paint anymore and didn’t feel fulfilled like I use to.”
But when her husband, Jon, surprised her with a $50 sewing machine, the young mom got attached to it. “That little stuffed bird was a sewing mess, but when I was done, I felt so satisfied,” she adds. “Sewing helped break my postpartum and honestly made me happy.”
She started with stuffed animals and eventually learned sewing from YouTube videos. And when her hubby cleaned out his closet, she decided to recreate the old shirts. The first dress she created was from the shirt she bought for Jon on Christmas but it got shrunk and so she refashioned it into her daughter’s “Elsa Dress which she wants to sleep in.”
The mother wants her children to know that she never gave up on her dreams. She wants to get into business but first wants to spend time with her children, but she will definitely get into business after her children start going to school. She keeps a track on her growth by posting regular pictures on Instagram and wants to inspire others as well.
