Tax Fraud Charge against Cristiano Ronaldo
Madrid Star Cristiano Ronaldo is facing a lawsuit against him for defrauding Spanish authorities of €14.7 million between 2011 and 2014. According to the statement of Spain Prosecutor in Madrid, Ronaldo used ‘Business Structure’ excuse created in 2010 to hide his income in Spain from his image rights.
Prosecutors have alleged that Ronaldo has been defaulter from 2011, when he defrauded €1.4m. Then in 2012 he defrauded €1.7m, in 2013 €3.2m and in 2014 €8.5m. He became a Spanish tax resident in 2010 and opted for the Spain Tax Regime in November 2011 that is applied to all foreigners working in Spain.
The accusations are based on a report by Spain Tax Agency and Read Madrid Star has declined to comment on any response on the same issue.
