America has finally chosen their new president in the form of Republican candidate Donald trump who defeated Hillary Clinton in a close battle. The current president Barrack Obama will leave the white house with his family officially on 20th January.
But have you ever thought what will happen with the official twitter account of President Obama which has over 11 million followers in last 8 years.
As we all know that Barack Obama was the first president who used social media on a large extends including Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tumble, Medium and other platforms. So will he continue to tweet with the same account or there is other option.Well this is what all his 11 millions fans are finding out .
So here is the answer:
Officials have decided when Obama leaves office on Jan. 20, 2017, Twitter will transfer his tweets to the new account @POTUS44.
The account will contain all of his 317 earlier tweets which will be archived by the US National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) under the new handle of @POTUS44. NARA will also collect the earlier official’s other Twitter, Facebook and Instagram profiles (like @WhiteHouse, @FLOTUS, @PressSec, and @VP) under similar Barack Obama -related handles.
And on the other hand the 45th US president will receive the handle @POTUS45, with a clean slate without the previous @POTUS tweets.
As for Facebook and Instagram, the White House username, URL, and followers will be owned by the new president. The same pattern will follow for the vice president and first lady’s social media accounts. Other digital projects, like WhiteHouse.Gov and petition platform “We The People”, will have their content archived by NARA but will be made available for the future office holders.
