26/11 Hero Dog Tiger Passes Away
A 26/11 hero dog, Tiger who retired from the police service last year died at the Virar farm on Saturday. He is the third dog who helped detect bombs during the Mumbai terror attack to pass away in the last four months.
The 12-year-old black labrador was on treatment for lung infection. However, his condition worsened on Friday night. The black labrador who had made the Fizzah Farms in Virar his home since May 2015.
Sultan and Max – his other comrades who were a part of the 26/11 police operations. Sultan, in particular, was Tiger’s closest friend – the two had been buddies since childhood. After Sultan’s death on June 18, Tiger had become lonely.
On April 8, sniffer dog Max had breathed his last. Now, Caesar is the only sniffer dog of the 26/11 gang left in the farm. Both Sultan and Tiger served in the Goregaon unit of the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS).
Tiger was laid to rest with full state honours. Tiger’s funeral saw in attendance Fizzah Shah, police officers and his friend Caesar.
