A China-based bicycle company Mobike, offers a fully station-less bicycle-sharing system. One just has to download the app to find the nearest bike, scan the QR (quick response) code, and you are ready to go. The company is world largest bicycle operator and operates in over 160 cities in China and in four other markets outside of China.

The basic concept of the Mobike is that a user can pick the bike from anywhere and can leave it anywhere, to find the bike the user just have to open the app and it will locate the nearest bike. When the user reaches its destination they can drop the bike at any ‘authorized bike parking area’, and lock it manually.

The company is now launching their bikes in Washington DC, it will be the first US city to be picked by the company to launch its bikes. The company will first start with 200 bikes and then they will go according to the progress, and if the things go well then the program will expand in the US.

The bikes use non-puncture airless tires, a chainless shaft drive, and disk brakes, all these things gives the bicycle a longer life. With the help of different bright color, Orange and Gray these bikes are easy to spot in public.

The app is so popular in China, that at one point it is so difficult to find a free parking spot in some areas, Mobike is one of the leaders in Asia and already a successful program in Europe including Manchester, London, and other UK cities. Mobike has already five million bikes in Europe and Asia (mostly in China).

There are other bike programs as well in the market like oBike, Citi Bike, Velib, etc. The Mobike has to compete with many others as well, as Mobike is very popular in China and Europe, it would not be that hard for the company to become popular in the US as well.
