‘Bahubali-2’ Tickets Can Cost Rs 900
After all the complaints regarding the extraordinary pricing of movie tickets, the government in this year’s plan made some conclusions regarding keeping a cap at the movie ticket rates at Rs 200. But the implementation is still pending.
The effects of this pending in the implementation have led the tickets fare of eagerly awaited ‘Bahubali-2’ releasing on 28th April rise up to Rs 900. But the Karnataka film body is pushing to put cap on the rates.
Karnataka Film Chambers of Commerce (KFCC) President Sa Ra Govindu said that the ticket price of Bahubali-2 was anywhere between Rs 120 and Rs 600 but is likely to rise up to Rs 900. In Bangaluru, on 30 single-screen theaters, the first day shows for the Telugu version of the movie is over 130.
He even said to PTI that the chamber had been in talks with government officials to implement the proposal, made in this year’s budget, after it received complaints about exorbitant rates charged by cinema theaters in the city.
Expecting a change in the situation by getting a response from the government, Govindu believes to get a refund of the excess amount charged on Bahubali -2 and other films if the government allows the proposal.
“The bandh talk, which kept the movie in news round-the-clock, has indeed helped its publicity. Now, it is not just about why Kattappa killed Bahubali, but the controversy prior to its release in the state that has infused curiosity among movie-goers. The new policy by the state government capping the price of movie tickets at Rs 200 could be one of the reasons there was uncertainty over the distribution rights. This time, the producers have, however, decided to release it themselves with local help,” Mr Subramanya, a film critic said.
In accordance of the government decision, Mukta Arts Managing Director Rahul Puri believes that the industry should oppose this move as it’s against the concept of free market.
