India’s second homegrown nuclear submarine Aridhaman on the rocks to get launched by the end of September or the October beginning according to Government sources as per economic times.

Launching of a submarine or a boat deals with the process of sending a vessel from a dry dock to the water grounds. With multiple sea trails approach the boat will further induct into Indian Navy by 2019.

The tradition of launching a boat by a Woman will be continued with Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman sending off the boat in its motion. The first homegrown Nuclear Submarine, INS ARIHANT was launched in 2009 by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s Wife, Gursharan Kaur.

INS ARIHANT was inducted in Indian Navy in August 2016. It was the very first nuclear attack submarine ever launched by any of the countries other than one of the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council.  and now Aridhaman is all set to go in India.

Aridhaman will be built under Advanced Technology Vessel (ATV) project at the Ship Building Centre in Vishakhapatnam, the boat will be encapsulated with double numbers of Missile hatches as that to predecessor Arihant along with m ore pressurized power reactor than INS Arihant’s 83.

Aridhaman will comprise of 7 blade propeller powered by pressurized water reactor with speed achieving capacity up to 12-15 knots on the surface and 24 knots under water.

Aridhaman will have 8 vertical launch tubes with a carrying capacity up to 24 indigenously developed K – 15 (Sagarika) missile or eight K – 4 missiles. The K-15 has a range of 750 km while the K-4 has a range of 3,500 km.

INS Arihant has four vertical launch tubes and can carry 12 K-15 missiles or four K-4 missiles.

The K-4 missile was developed as the Agni-III missile could not be deployed on INS Arihant due to space constraints.
