Now Search For “Stories” On Snapchat
Snap Inc announced on Friday that a new feature is going to be added in its Snapchat messaging app. In this feature, the users can search for ‘Snaps’ regarding any topic and look for stories posted regarding the same.
For instance, users can search for snaps related to topics like puppies or events like Lakme Fashion Week.
In past few months, we have seen Facebook copying key aspects of Snapchat’s features. The ‘Our Story’ feature by Snapchat is widely copied as ‘Stories’ feature that disappears after 24 hours. Facebook owned- Instagram and Whatsapp already got the ‘Stories’ update.
But this time, Snapchat has turned the tables. It has now added a feature which Facebook already has, so as to pull users’ attention away from Facebook. And now Facebook cannot copy because it already has it.
Earlier, Snapchat was allowing its users to look for other users to follow or chat in the search section, but now it has allowed the users to search for Stories. Search will be carried out by machine learning system that looks at the texts in snaps as well as when and where they are posted to keep it accurate to the material the user is searching for.
This is going to be a good experience for both the users and the advertisers. The users can now find information relevant to them about what-so-ever is happening in their local area or across the country or in the restaurant in the city. Though, Snapchat isn’t adding ads just yet, but one can imagine how the sponsored stories will be visible similar to sponsored links in Google.
