This Olympic Swimmer Will Race Against a White Shark
Michael Phelps, 31, has collected 23 gold, 3 silvers and 2 bronze at the Olympics, who retired at the Rio Olympics 2016, is now willing to race against a Great White Shark for a television show ‘Shark Week’ which begins on 23rd July.
Great White Shark the primary predator of marine animals which can reach up to the speed of 25mph, while the American Swimming Champion had his maximum speed of 6 miles per hour. This is actually a very new challenge for Michael Phelps.
The channel’s part where Phelps will race against shark is called ‘Phelps v Shark: Great Gold v Great White.’ According to Tooni Mahto from the Australian Marine Conservation Society, the result of the race will take the turn anyone can guess.
She told BBC Radio 5 live, “It is a foregone conclusion as to who is going to come out on top”. But she added, “We can all be fairly certain it’s not going to be Michael Phelps versus a great white shark in an Olympic-size swimming pool. I’m assuming it’s going to be looking at the human body in water compared to a creature that’s evolved over millions of years and is perfectly adapted to its marine environment.”
Discovery Channel said it as “an event so monumental that no one has ever attempted it before” and added that “the world’s most decorated athlete takes on the ocean’s most efficient predator: Phelps V Shark — the race is on!”
