Innovation and Research, the base of Heritage
The Heritage Group of Institutions is carrying forward its legacy of achievements by adding new feathers in the crown of glory and pride achieving better results by the students. The Department of Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering of Heritage Institution of Technology have achieved NBA accreditation for the third time, this year.
Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University, West Bengal in its 8th Convocation has Heritage in its list where in Department of Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering Department won 14 numbers of Medals from both Post Graduate and Under Graduate Courses (2013-2016).
The Department of Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering (AEIE), Heritage Institute of Technology also participated in Industry Academia Conclave at Milan Mela Ground in Kolkata, which was organised by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University, West Bengal. At this event AEIE department on behalf of Heritage Institute of Technology presented all their products developed in house. This fetched Heritage the first prize in innovation and the best stall award.
One of the most ambitious event, which the Department of Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering (AEIE) Heritage Institute of Technologythis year organized “2nd Prototype Design Competition for Mankind” on 28th April, 2017, under which colleges from all over West Bengal were invited to participate and present the prototype they developed.
The first edition of this initiative was taken up by the department of Instrumentation in the year of 2016 as a cause of celebration for completion of 15th year of B. Tech. and 10th year of M. Tech. programme. The phenomenal response that the event received led to the department to re-organize the event this year too. The department this year in technical association with ISA student chapter of HITK organized the second edition of this event in association with ISA student chapter of HIT-K and it was a great success.
The force behind all this innovative projects is Dr. Madhurima Chattopadhyay, HoD, Department of Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering (AEIE) Heritage Institute of Technology for whom along with training and teaching, innovation and research is very significant form of learning, while talking to Youthens she said “We want to make the students aware that Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering is a very good stream where they can try some innovation and can see their dream come true and can contribute to the society for the benefit of the society.”
On April, 2017 she along with her PhD students visited Semiconductor Laboratory (SCL), Department of Space, Chandigarh in order to fabricate Microelectromechanical system (MEMS) based sensors which is part of her SERB funded DST project under fast Track Young Scientist Scheme. As a fruitful outcome of this, a MoU between SCL and HITK will be signed soon. During their stay at Chandigarh, the team also got the opportunity to visit some of eminent research laboratories of Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CISO) under CSIR and interacted with Research scientists regarding innovation in existing instrumentation system.
Talking about the initiatives CEO of Heritage Group of Institutions, Mr. P. K Agarwal said “Dr Madhurima Chattopadhyay is an excellent faculty in our Institute and she is the main person who is doing the research and development, she has received Innovation Award and she is the only one from our Institute to receive the Award in The President House (Rastrapati Bhawan).
The Project undertaken by Heritage Institute of Technology was all with the purpose to inspire all the students to do something good for the humanity. We promote the talent of the students in the area of research and Heritage always provided them a platform. It is great in our part as an Institution to create a culture of research and development for the humankind, which is the need of the time”.
This year marked the inception of Heritage Institute of Technology as a national contributor in emerging technology with the presentation of couple of Prototypes by the team of AEIE on behalf of Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata and Applied Electronics Department at NASSCOM Product Conclave (NPC) in Pune, which is a national platform for Indian startup companies to showcase and present their products for potential funding offers. The event also features a lot of technology related talks describing the need of the hour for the Indian software industry along with hands-on sessions on subjects like AI and Machine Learning on GPUs.
The school of learning is where a student grows and learn, not just theoretical knowledge but also the practical implementation of what they are taught and to use the knowledge for the good of humanity and here Heritage Institute of Technology has been maintaining the tradition and playing a significant role.
