During this time, Madhavan’s south movie career was also going well with his movies like Dumm Dumm Dumm, Parthale Paravasam, Kannathil Muthamittal, Run, Anbe Sivam, Priyamana Thozhi, Lesa Lesa and Jay Jay.
In 2004, ‘Aayutha Ezhuthu’ was released in which Madhavan played a role of a gangster. He later said that his role of Inba in the movie as a gangster was his hardest role in acting but he enjoyed it the most. The Hindi version of this movie was ‘Yuva’ in which Abhishek Bachchan played the role of gangster Lallan. Many critics believe that Madhavan was far better than junior Bachchan as a gangster. He got South Indian Filmfare Award for the Best Supporting Actor for this role.
In 2005, Maddy worked in ‘Ramji Londonwaley’ whereas he was also seen as a show host in ‘Deal Ya No Deal’. In 2006, Madhavan’s career took the biggest hit when he acted in ‘Rang De Basanti’ with Amir Khan Sharman Joshi, Kunal Kapoor, Siddharth, Atul Kulkarni, Soha Ali Khan, Anupam Kher and Kiran Kher. He played the role of pilot in this film.
Later in 2007, Maddy was seen in Guru, a biopic of Dhirubhai Ambani. In the film he played the role of a real life journalist S Gurumurthy. The film went a big blockbuster giving Maddy a solid footing in Bollywood industry.
After this, Maddy was visible in various films like Delhi Heights, Aarya, Evano Oruvan, Vaazhthukal and in Mumbai Meri Jaan. For Evano Oruvan maddy won ITFA best actor award.
High-top career and current scene
The biggest achievement of Maddy’s acting career came with 3 idiots in 2009, a film by Rajkumar Hirani. It was considered as the biggest Indian film. He then came up in ‘Teen Patti’ and ‘Jhoota Hi Sahi’, but these movies didn’t go well. Then he came up again in a romantic film named ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ in which he played the role of Manu. In 2012 he did ‘Jodi Breakers’ with Bipasha Basu. His last film was ‘Saala Khadoos’ in 2016.
Currently, he is working for a sci-fi film ‘Chanda Mama Door Ke’ with Sushant Singh Rajput. He will be again seen as a pilot of the air force.
