R Madhavan; An Inspiring Actor, Writer And Producer
R Madhavan (actor, writer and producer), commonly known as Maddy, was born Madhavan Balaji Ranganathan to a Hindu Tamil Brahmin family in Jamshedpur, India on 1st June 1970. His father Ranganathan, worked as a manager executive at Tata Steel while mother Saroja, worked as a manager in Bank of India. His sister Devika is now settled in United Kingdom.
Maddy has completed his graduation from Rajaram College in Kohlapur. Later he was chosen for representing India as a Cultural Ambassador to Canada. At the age of 22, when he became the Maharashtra Best Cadet, he got an opportunity to go to Britain as army cadets and received training in the royal army, navy, and Air Force.
Madhavan always had a dream of joining air force and his dream became reality when he played the role of an Indian Air Force Pilot in the movie ‘Rang De Basanti’. His ambition of joining Air Force didn’t get fulfilled due to age issues and so he took a way towards public speaking. Is 1992, he represented India at the Young Businessman Conference in Tokyo, Japan. During his Maharashtra workshop, Madhavan met Sarita Birje, whom he married in 1999. Their first child a son Vedant was born in 2005.
How his acting career started?
Madhavan in 1996 use to act in a serial named ‘Sea Hawks’ on the role of a captain. He was also seen in serials like ‘Banegi Apni Baat’, ‘Yeh Kahan Aa Gaye Hum’ and as an anchor in ‘Tol Mol’. He first entered in films with his cameo as a club singer in ‘Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin’.
His first Indian film was ‘Shanti Shanti Shanti’ a kannada film in which he did the second lead role. But his first movie didn’t create any impact. His first major role in movie was as Indian police officer in film ‘Inferno’ with Don Wilson.
Maddy’s first important film appearance was in 2000 in Alaipayuthey, a romantic Tamil film in which he played the role of a husband going through trauma of marriage. His film became a blockbuster.
After his first step, the second success of Madhavan’s life came when he was casted in Gautham Menon’s Minnale (2001), which was a commercial success. Minnale’s Hindi version was also created in the same year title ‘Rehna Hain Tere Dil Me’. Madhavan, Saif Ali Khan and debutant actress Dia Mirza were the cast. At first RHTDM didn’t go well, but with time it developed amongst Indian youth and this film made Madhavan a known face to Indian cinema and Indian cinema fans.
