Oscar Nominations 2017: La La Land Ruled With 14 Nomination

The 89th annual Academy Award nominations were announced Tuesday, January 24, honoring the best films of 2016 as chosen by members of the film industry. Oscar voters showered the neo-musical “La La Land” with 14 nominations a tie with “Titanic” and “All About Eve” for the most in Academy Award history.
Talking about women Meryl Streep again created history with her 20th nomination. She is now the first actor to reach 20 nominations in her lifetime, with a Best Actress nomination for her performance in Florence Foster Jenkins. No other actor comes close to her total. She has won the coveted golden statue three times, most recently in 2012 as Margaret Thatcher in “The Iron Lady.” Before that she won in 1980 for Kramer v. Kramer and 1983 for Sophie’s Choice.
