Madhuri Sarode and Jay Sharma became the first transgender couple to admit publicly that one of them is transgender. After seeing each other for two years, they decided to marry according to Hindu customs.

Recently a Mumbai-based freelance photographer Anu Pattnaik captured their love in camera. ‘When I came across this couple, I was blown away,’ Anu tells Metro.co.uk.

‘All the conventional ideas regarding love seemed frivolous and small in front of their journey.’ ‘Madhuri Sarode and Jay Rajnath Sharma’s love story inspired me to go and have a closer look at their world,’ says Anu.

So, she went and lived with them for a couple of days, capturing them in their most intimate moments.
