The much-awaited trailer of the film came out last night and it’s powerful to say the least. The 2-minute 14-second-long trailer recreates the era of the 70s and the narration adds to the trailer profiled like a documentary. The clip finely chronicles the details of a Mumbai of a bygone era, which still finds its place entrenched in the history of the city. The voice-over gives out a clear and detailed picture of what happened then in Dagdi Chawl – the bastion of Arun Gawli, with details of the shutting down of textile mills and the hardships faced by the affected mill workers and their families. Finding a way out the like-minded formed a gang in the film called B.R.A gang, an acronym of their names Babu, Rama and Arun.
‘Daddy’ has been co-written and directed by Ashim Ahluwalia. The political crime drama will mark Ashim’s foray into mainstream cinema after his feature-length documentary ‘John & Jane’ and ‘Miss Lovely’, both of which bagged National Awards. Going by the trailer, Arjun has made for a great fit as the gangster-politician Gawli and the fate of the film seems promising. ‘Daddy’ releases on July 21, 2017.
